Independent Living Charitable Trust Second-Hand Mobility Scooters & Power Chairs – Warranty Terms and Conditions

Retail Warranty Statement

All second-hand mobility scooters and power chairs sold by Independent Living are supplied with a retail warranty. The warranty period will vary depending on the age, service history, and condition of each individual unit.

Important: It is the customer’s responsibility to check the specific warranty length at the time of purchase. This will be stated on the product description and confirmed on your invoice or receipt.

What Your Warranty Covers

  • Mechanical and electrical faults caused by normal, intended use.
  • Repair of the fault, including parts and labour, or
  • Where repair is not viable, a like-for-like replacement (if available) or a partial refund in line with age and use.

What Your Warranty Does Not Cover

  • General wear and tear, including:
    • Tyres
    • Seat padding
    • Cosmetic marks (scratches, scuffs, fading)
  • Battery life or performance after initial delivery (unless otherwise stated)
  • Accidental damage or faults caused by:
    • Neglect or misuse
    • Improper storage
    • Overloading or off-road use
    • Unauthorised repairs or modifications
  • Consumable parts such as fuses, bulbs, or inner tubes

Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe your product has developed a fault covered by your warranty:

  1. Contact us with your proof of purchase and details of the issue.
  2. We may request photos, arrange inspection, or collect the item.
  3. All warranty work must be carried out by us or our authorised agents.
  4. The customer may be responsible for returning the equipment to one of our locations if outside the Auckland area.

We aim to resolve warranty matters promptly, but please allow time for parts to be sourced, especially for older models.

Fair Use and Discretion

All warranty claims will be assessed fairly and in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We reserve the right to:

  • Inspect and assess the cause of any fault.
  • Make the final decision on whether the issue falls within warranty terms.
  • Adjust the warranty terms for individual items based on age and condition.

Final Note

We’re committed to supporting our customers with reliable equipment and honest service. If you have any questions about the warranty on a specific product, just ask—we’re happy to help
