Join our free coffee chat group for Korean parents, family members, and carers to share experiences and challenges in a supportive, open environment.
This coffee group meets on the first Friday of every month at *Aim High Café (17 Pearn Place, Northcote).

장애를 가지신 분이나 그 가족, 서포트 워커 및 장애 관련 서비스에 관심이 있으신 분들과 함께하는 모임입니다.
편안하고 따뜻한 분위기에서 정보를 공유하고 서로의 경험과 고민을 나눌 수 있으며 , 매달 첫 번째 금요일, *Aim High Café (17 Pearn Place, Northcote)*에서 진행됩니다.

작년 이맘때 즈음 코리아포스트의 광고를 통해 ILS 커피모임을 처음 알게 되었습니다. 당시 Health and Wellbeing level 4 과정을 공부하고 있었어서 관련 정보를 얻을 수 있지 않을까 하는 생각으로 참여하게 된 모임은 기대 이상으로 얻은 것이 많았습니다.
ILS커피모임은 장애가 있는 혹은 장애가 있는 사람들의 가족을 통해 그들이 겪고 있는 현실적인 문제를 듣고 해결방안을 찾기 위해 함께 의논하는 배울점이 많은 자리였습니다. 특히 모임의 주제에 맞는 전문가를 섭외해서 실질적인 이야기를 듣고 궁금증을 해결할 수 있었던 것도 좋은 경험이었습니다.
무엇보다 ILS커피모임을 통해 좋은 기회로 현재 직장인 에임하이를 알게되었고 장애인들의 재활을 위해 한발 나설 수 있게 되었습니다.
너무나도 따뜻하게 맞이해주셨던 커피모임 멤버들 그리고 늘 긍정의 말씀을 해주셨던 메리엔 선생님께 감사의 인사를 전합니다.
모두들 항상 건강하시고 오랫동안 이 모임이 지속되길 응원합니다!

Around this time last year, I came across an ad in Korea Post and learned about the Korean coffee group.
At the time, I was studying for the Health and Wellbeing Level 4 course, and I joined with the thought that I might gain some relevant information. But the group gave me so much more than I anticipated.
The ILS Coffee Group was a very insightful gathering where we listened to the realistic challenges faced by people with disabilities or their families and discussed solutions together.
It was also a great experience to have guest speakers invited to the meeting to provide information, share insights, and answer our questions.
Above all, the ILS Coffee Group gave me the valuable chance to connect with Aim High, my current workplace, and make progress in supporting people with disabilities.
I want to express my gratitude to all the coffee group members who welcomed me so warmly, and especially to you, Marian, for your constant positive encouragement.
I hope everyone stays healthy and that this group keeps going strong for years ahead!

They had little English and couldn’t communicate with the agency. They were referred to ILCT information service by a friend, Chinese speaking staff guided them through the process talking to MSD and local housing provider and eventually the issue was resolved.
