Karen Beard-Greer
Alongside her role as CEO, Karen is also Chair of Manawanui InCharge and President of the New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres.  Karen joined Independent Living in November 2010 bringing 20 years’ business experience from the private sector.

Raema Inglis
Finance Manager
Raema is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a range of experience working for CA firms and not for profit organisations. She joined Independent Living in 2012.

Lynette Southey-Ray
Finance Support 
Lynette is a dedicated member of the Finance Team specialising in managing Conference Facility bookings and Accounts administration.  Lynette joined the Independent Living team in October 2016. She has lived experience of impairment (hearing).

Peter Rawlings
Head of Supply Chain
Peter is the Head of Independent Living Supply Chain. He is also an accredited Barrier Free Advisor and Be. Master Coach and part of the Independent Living Specialist Access Advisory Team. Peter joined Independent Living in 2005 and gained the National Certificate in Disability Information Provision in 2012.

Russ Hayes
Supply Chain Specialist
Russ is a key member of the Finance Team, responsible for stock control and supply chain.  He joined the Independent Living team in 1999 and has fulfilled a number of roles during his time here.  As a wheelchair user he has empathy for people with impairments, often assisting customers with his extensive product knowledge.

Julianne McEldowney
Key Relationships Manager
As Key Relationships Manager, Julianne is responsible for shaping, informing and developing New Zealand communities to removing barriers and bias for people with impairments. Julianne is part of the Projects Team, is an accredited Barrier Free Advisor, and specialises in Access, Consulting and Training. Julianne joined the Independent Living Team in 2000.  Julianne facilitates communication both internally and externally for Independent Living.  

Hours: Mondays and Thursdays 8.30am - 5pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm.

Tony Howe
Information & Equipment Consultant
Tony is lead Information and Equipment Consultant and is a part of the specialist Access Advisory Team.  He is an accredited Barrier Free Advisor, Be. Master Coach and Access Consultant/Trainer.  Tony manages the Lottery Grants Mobility Scooter scheme at Independent Living.  He holds the National Certificate in Disability Information Provision.  Tony joined Independent Living in 1992, has lived experience of impairment (3rd generation Muscular Dystrophy) and uses a power chair for mobility.

Tammy Smith
Information & Equipment Consultant
Tammy is an Information & Equipment Consultant with strong equipment knowledge to assist customers with their enquiries.  Tammy is part of our Showroom Team, specialising in customer service and web sales.  She also travels with the Mobile Service as required.  Tammy joined Independent Living in 2011 and now holds the National Certificate in Disability Information Provision.

Project Manager New Services
Justin project manages the development of new services.  Justin has 25 years’ experience in retail store development, visual merchandising and sales.  He joined Independent Living in 2011 innovating our award-winning Mobile Service and was the driving force behind the newlook Independent Living Botany Store which opened in 2014.

Independent Living Mobile, our information and equipment service that delivers presentations on assistive technologies and also connects people to support services throughout greater Auckland.  Based at our Botany Store, April has a strong commitment to addressing the needs of our customers.
