Are you concerned about your safety or someone elses? Abuse can occur as physical, emotional, or financial abuse or neglect.

The following organisations provide support for you and your family with education, awareness-raising and options to keep you safe at home.

Age Concern
For free and confidential support, advocacy and information for people facing elder abuse. Services also offer education for people working with and caring for older people, and public awareness-raising activities aimed at early identification and prevention of elder abuse or neglect.

Barnardos New Zealand provides child and family services, early childhood care and education, information and a child advocacy programme in communities around the country. Services offered vary from area to area.

NSWC provides a range of services on Auckland's North Shore for women, including information, counselling, referral and support, courses and clinics. Courses change each term and are advertised on their website. Clinics include a legal clinic, counselling and holistic health clinic.

Rape Prevention Education (RPE) works to eliminate rape and sexual abuse through education and community work. RPE also provides support and information to survivors of sexual abuse and their whanau / friends though a telephone information, referral and support-line.

Shine is a national organisation offering a free helpline, training and consultancy throughout New Zealand and is now the largest single family violence prevention service in New Zealand with a focus on keeping people safe in their own home.They provide an extensive range of services, including a national domestic violence helpline, 24 hour crisis and advocacy for adult and child victims of family violence, a stopping violence programme for abusive people, a Child Crisis Team intervention service for children who have witnessed family violence, coordination of SAFTINET, an interagency network and also many different training programmes.
