1. Got a query for Taikura Trust?

Taikura Trust are holding drop in sessions at Royal Oak and Botany stores.  The aim of these sessions is for you to pop in and see a Taikura Trust representative who will answer any questions or queries you may have on the services they provide.

Who are Taikura Trust?
Taikura Trust provide support to disabled people under 65 years and their families and carers across greater Auckland. They work with them to understand their needs, develop a plan and ensure the best support services are in place to meet their needs.

2. Inaugural Auckland Central Chinese Network Meeting

ILS are welcoming various organizations, government officers, services providers, and Asian community leaders, media and core person in the community, to attend our monthly network meeting.  

The Auckland Central Chinese network meeting is providing a platform to speak up and access the government/service provider information, so that service providers can have a better place to join in and work as a team. Details for the meeting are:

3. Stroke Workshop for the Korean Community

ILS is hosting a Stroke workshop for the Korean community and service providers to learn about
 

  • understanding Stroke
  • common first signs of Stroke
  • preventing Stroke in every day life
  • how can I tell if someone if having a Stroke


The presenter is Ruth Caldwell (Community Stroke Advisor)

10. Job Vacancies

ILS
We are looking for a friendly & reliable person to join our ILS retail store here in Royal Oak. We specialise in assistive products and solutions to make daily living easier for Royal Oak and surrounding community.

12. Be. Curious with Dmitry Selitskiy and Sarvnas Taherian

This month we have the pleasure of hosting Dmitry Selitskiy and Sarvnaz Taherian from Thought-Wired, an Auckland-based hi-tech social enterprise start-up

Thought-Wired have created nous™ – software that uses brain-sensing (also known as brain-computer interface) technology to allow people with an access need to communicate.  Thought-Wired aim to make the world accessible to everyone – starting with communication.  

Come and join us for drinks and nibbles on Thursday 5 October at 4.30pm  – Dmitry and Sarv will share their story, and we’ll discuss the role that social enterprise plays in creating social change for a more accessible Aotearoa. 15. Can you help with the annual Pink Ribbon Street Appeal?

Forget painting the town red! This October, it's all about pink. Grab a bucket, get pinked up, and join the thousands of other volunteers collecting donations nationwide in the name of stopping breast cancer in its tracks!

This year, the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal is taking place on October 13th and 14th - two days of kiwi generosity.

Sign up to give 2 hours for the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal and take to the streets with official collection buckets and pink volunteer sashes.

Make a difference this October.



16. Franklin Positive Ageing Expo

The Largest Indoor Ageing Positively Expo In New Zealand - come enjoy the day & support & help that's all free!

All are welcome, we are the largest indoor exhibition and entertainment expo for positive ageing in New Zealand - of interest to all of the family! 17. Workshop for Families

Securing the Future, Crafting a Good Life - through microboards and family governed initiatives

This seminar will explore how families can bring people together to develop a range of family-governed initiatives, including microboards, intentional networks and family-governed collectives.

Speakers include Lawrence Chok, Co-director of Inclusion Aotearoa, Linda Perry, Executive Director of Veia Canada and Bridget Snedden with over 35 years experience in the NZ Disability sector.

Outward Bound have our Activate course coming up in November (8 day course for those aged 18+ with physical disabilities). If you know of anyone who may be interested in this amazing opportunity, feel free to put them in touch.
