Your local specialists making daily living easier.

Onehunga Community, October 2017

Spring is here and so is the warmer weather – so let’s get out and enjoy it. The Independent Living Service Charitable Trust (ILS) is a not-for-profit, community focused organisation committed to making daily living easier, so you can live the life you want.

ILS holds contracts with the Ministry of Health to provide disability information and advice, a free service for Aucklanders from Franklin to Rodney. They’re Auckland’s largest disability information and advisory service, with specialised databases and up-to-date reference material on all issues relating to disability.  ILS have specialist Information Consultants who can connect and direct you to the right services, funding streams and assistive solutions for all ages. They also have an Asian Information team speaking Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean.

ILS’s free information services are exactly that, free, and available to everyone. The Information Consultants and wider team at ILS have extensive knowledge and experience of disability, health and community services in the Auckland region. As a not-for-profit organisation, they provide unbiased professional advice you know you can trust, and a great range of affordably priced assistive products. They even provide a quick and free safety check on your walking stick and or walker in store.

"At ILS we work with you, to find the best solutions to fit your needs."

Onehunga’s local ILS store is located at 14 Erson Ave, Royal Oak (formerly Disability Resource Centre Auckland). It has a large home mobility and equipment showroom along with fully accessible conference facilities. It’s also the hub for the ILS Free Mobile Information and Equipment Service. Which takes information into Auckland’s communities, through tailored presentations to community groups, retirement villages, social and disability support groups. The Mobile Service also provides free in-home demonstrations to assist people with selecting the right scooter or power chair that best suits their needs and home environment. Plus they offer free delivery Auckland wide on scooters and power chairs.

Are you part of a group or organisation that would enjoy a fun presentation?  Or if you’d like an in-home scooter demonstration call Dee Kemp-Towns, the ILS Mobile Service Manager directly on 09 625 0319, or visit www.ilsnz.org.
